what i love about bangkok

#1 the colourful-ness of the place.

i'm sure everyone is aware of their famous pink taxis. But did you know their soldiers wear pink head gears ? heeeee :) let me show you the colourful head gears their soldiers wore !

bright pink !

blueee !

and other shades of black and grey.

We reached Bangkok on Thursday and went sight seeing around the old town which includes the grand palace and a few temples. We were very fortunate as on that day, the soldiers and marines and police officers etc etc were rehearsing for the march past for their king's birthday on Sunday ! AND we even got to witness them firing live canons !!!

Those are REAL canons ! yin and i was standing around 3 feet away from the canons and when they fire them we can literally feel the force, so much so that we can feel our jeans stretched backwards. don't get it ? its just like when somebody pull your jeans from the back just that there's nobody there and your jeans stretch by itself. i hope i didn't make it more complicated. haahaha

#2 their awesome 7-11 !

you can see 7-11 everywhere ! there's always 1 outlet in front of every bus stop and every 1 km there will be 1 outlet.

What's special about the 7-11 there is that they sell a wide variety of instant lunch boxes. They have rice, noodles, spaghetti etc. They provide microwave ovens there and the staff will help you heat up your food !

bought breakfast from 7-11 on the 3rd day ! it tasted really really good !

when you spent over a certain amount in 7-11 they give you this very cute stickers with characters from doraemon on it! Each different character stand for different amount, i think each of this is 50 bath = rm5, so the next time you'll get discount when you show the stickers ! not like most systems here you need to collect 10 chops or 10 stickers then only got discounts.

#3 their streets are always clean !

I do not have illustration for this but their streets are really veryy clean. Even after a night market, you wont see any rubbish on the street, not even a single straw i tell you ! The people never simply throw rubbish and the stall owners bring brooms along and sweep before and after they do business. In fact i never saw anybody winding down the window to throw rubbish or spit in Bangkok.

#4 they queue up neatly at the sky train station

Yes, they line up in 2 straight neat lines and the most important point is the 2 lines won't *disappear* when the train arrive. They wait till EVERYONE get out of the train before going in. Absolutely NO pushing !

#5 you won't go hungry !

pad thai ! thai style char keoy theow

THE best fried chicken ! bought this from a street vendor.

noodles with mini yong tau fu, fish ball, fish cake etc

noodles with drumstick and chicken feet. they serve alot of chicken and only a small portion of noodles and this is their style of serving noodles, only small portion of noodles and huge portion of the side dish.

tom yum ! i had tom yum for every dinner in Bangkok and all the prawns served were huge and fresh !

HUGE PRAWNS !

glutinous rice with mango !

coconut flavour ice cream served with some peanuts and coconut flesh ! had this at the famous chatuchak market, and this is a must-try if you go to Bangkok ! that's how good it is :) i still ahve alot of pictures of food haaha these are the ones i tried and they all tasted really good !
